One of the questions that I am most frequently asked by ladies in my Pregnancy Yoga classes is: ‘How can yoga help to relieve the discomfort felt by sciatica?’ One of the causes of sciatica is compression and irritation of the sciatic nerve (that runs down the back of the leg) because of tightness in the muscles around the hips and buttocks. This video shows a series of yoga poses and movements suitable for pregnancy that may help, by stretching the muscles of the outer hips, buttocks, legs and lower back.

It is important to consult a doctor if you think you are experiencing sciatica as the symptoms may have another cause.
