In the immortal words of Groucho Marx, “time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.”

Banana Pose is a whimsical lateral bend that stretches and balances superficial and deep back muscles to simultaneously improve shoulder mobility and address one of the most common causes of lower back pain.

Naturally, we’re demonstrating this appealing pose at a sidewalk installation called Peeled Pavement.

Unroll your yoga mat and lie down on your back with your legs outstretched and feet resting a generous shoulder-distance apart.

Reach both arms up and back towards the wall behind you, then clasp your left wrist with your right hand.
