I’m headed to Europe this summer. Poland…..June 15-17, Bulgaria….June 21-23.

Questions answered in this talk were:
Question #1: What is the effect of working with longer and smoother inhalation and exhalation in pranayama. What is the mental benefits from a strong but relaxed kumbahka. There seem to be relaxation of thought patterns in that moment which stretches for ages.

Question #2: My ashtanga practice had led me to a long periode with hightening sensetivity, and almost buzzing sound and sensation. Have you experienced something anything like this? Do you have any tips or tweeks on how to cope/controll it, as I’m having trouble functioning at my work with rigid coworkers.

Question #3: When you are injured is it more beneficial to rest? I am hearing that it makes sense to practice, but the pain is difficult to deal with and it does not get better. It is because each movement is painful and creates depressing emotional response. What is your advice?

Question #4: My question is when you are in a “tamasic state” (feeling very negative/bored/drawn in), is it better to skip practise or still practise (primary)?

Question #5: Hey David, I have a question for sunday…can you talk about the difference between asmita and ahamkara, and maybe about the difference between asmita as a klesha and asmita in terms of asamprajnanta?

Question #6: In my practice, I find myself caught between wanting muscle engagement (e.g. pull up knee caps in folds, engage shoulders in jumps) and softening. I have had a teacher that emphasized softness in postures and another that emphasized engagement. Can both exist in a pose? Are the asanas about both, or one over the other, or does it depend on the posture?

Question #7: Have you dealt with or taught people dealing with meniscus tears? I have a plan of action of how to come back, probably will involve surgery. Just wondering if you’ve experienced that or taught people dealing with that in ashtanga practice?

Question #8: Since I started practicing ashtanga 3 years ago I felt my sexual drive going down and interest losing. I do think this is because of the practice and it obviously brings some difficulties to my partnership life. Do you think I am doing something wrong?
