This new (old) way of doing a standing forward bend was inspired from a story on NPR in Feb. 2018. It involves bending the knees a bit, rotating the pelvis forward and keeping the spine neutral as you bring it parallel with the floor. You end up using your strong leg muscles more and sparing the lower back.
