Here are a few poses I like to do that help when I get a stiff or sore neck from sitting for too long or sleeping the wrong way… Down Dog, Eagle Arms, and Half Tortoise.
But here’s what’s interesting… Most of those postures don’t have a whole lot to do with your neck directly.
When looking at yoga for your neck it’s hard to give a strict list of poses that you should do specifically for your neck.
Honestly, you may be doing yourself more damage than good unless you warm up first.
I like to warm up the neighboring muscle groups before I target my neck with neck rolls or other targeted stretches.
(hence why I mentioned those poses above)
Lastly, once I feel loose in my upper back and shoulders I’ll do a few gentle neck rolls.
Sometimes it’s also nice to place a rolled up towel under you neck in shavasana (as seen in the last part of the video).
Thank you for watching and don’t forget to leave me a comment and/or say hi!
Much Love and be well!
