Guru Purnima is one the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar.

What is Guru Purnima?
Gu means ignorance and darkness in the person. Ru means the remover of that darkness. So when you put the words together GURU it means a person who removes darkness and ignorance from an individual.

Purnima means full moon. Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu calendar.

What is the significant of Guru Purnima?
It’s a festival showing dedication, respect, gratitude towards the Guru, master or teachers.

In our yoga centre (yogashala) we show our gratitude to Guruji BKS Iyengar, Nandaji and the teachers. The Gurus teach us about the importance and cycle of life not only in physical but in an energy transmitted through knowledge to the individual.

On this day, we not only honour the Gurus but we contemplate and reflect upon the importance of their teachings that form a better base in our practice.

In conjunction with this festival, the management BKS
Iyengar Yogashala with full gratitude offer a FREE YOGA CLASS
on 27th July 2018 (Friday)
