This step-by-step guide of Sun Salutation for beginners will guide you on how to progress through Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar). All beginners start yoga at different levels and abilities, it is therefore important to learn to listen to your own body and how to modify classes to suit your level and ability.

Sun Salutations improve flexibility, strength and co-ordination. They relax the mind and encourage you to deepen your breath. When you start to practice Sun Salutations everyday it can help to reduce stress and help to ground you. They are great to do in the morning to wake you up and give you energy for the rest of the day, especially in winter and they bring heat into the body! There are many other benefits of Sun Salutations, including being effective for weight loss and improving digestion. The most important thing is to start slowly and understand that flexibility and strength come with regular practice and patience.
