Ahmedabad, June 9 (ANI): An Indian sexagenarian got a new life after she became mother to a baby boy at the age of 60. Punji Patel conceived through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), something that is rare at her age. In Ahmedabad Punji successfully delivered a 3.9 kilogram baby boy. IVF is the artificial method of fertilisation by combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish, and then transferring the embryo to the uterus. Married for more than 30 years, the couple tried, without success, to have a child until Punji entered menopause. Punji and her husband Ranchood Patel were keen to have their baby. The couple also visited many temples. Patel had entered her menopause when she first approached the doctor at the age of 59. Doctor said Punji had an atrophic uterus. They provided her with hormones to reactivate her uterus and she started having menses.
