Clear out your mind. Get rid of any concerns or worries surrounding your pregnancy and childbirth with this metta, or loving kindness, meditation.

For this special pregnancy meditation, we will focus thoughts of loving kindness on ourselves, our growing babies and another person helping us through the pregnancy (partner/friend/family member).

When practiced frequently studies have shown that metta meditation can increase positive emotions. In regards to pregnancy, this meditation should help you to let go of any negative thoughts or emotions you may be holding onto and to embrace your pregnancy with joy and gratitude.

Meditating during your pregnancy is just as important as your prenatal asana yoga practice. Then mental and emotional strength it helps you develop as well as a general feeling of calm will help you both through the pregnancy and birth.

So get comfortable, sitting in a chair or elevated on the floor using pillows or blankets. Make sure you are warm enough and that you won’t be disturbed for the next 15 minutes or so.

Get still.
