Reasons for Ectopic Pregnancy
What is ectopic pregnancy?
The failure of implantation of the fertilised egg from the Fallopian tube to the inner line of the uterus is known as ectopic pregnancy .
Reasons for ectopic pregnancy:
Previous ectopic pregnancy has always a higher risk of consequent ectopic pregnancy
PID – pelvic inflammatory disease
Endometriosis – infection in the inner layer of the uterus
Improper or unsuccessful family planning ( eg: tube ligation )
Oral contraceptive pills taken to induce periods
Fertility medications like clomiphene Citrate , personal , progestin etc could effect the tube movement leading to ectopic pregnancy
Smoking habits could increase the protein – Pro- KRI – disturbing the hair like structures inside the Fallopian tube (ciliary movements ) causing ectopic pregnancy
Low progesterone levels ( below 22 ng/ ml )
When you suspect or confirmed that you are pregnant , it is most important to have an eye whether the implantation is successful
In case of any pain / dis-comfort in either left / right lower abdomen associated with spotting me , nausea , shoulder pain etc it is most important to check for ectopic
Early diagnosis can save your tube – by clearing the ectopic pregnancy with medication instead of removing ( loosing ) the tube
If left in-noticed or un- treated the tube may burst causing haemorrhage and even death can occur .
When you removed a tube one side – your chances of pregnancy becomes 50%
