Functional movements improve mobility and flexibility than static stretches alone! A foam roller keeps the spine straight while allowing more movement in shoulder blades. A forward posture with rounded shoulders and a titled neck are often the main causes for shoulder blade pain. Weak upper back muscles are another cause. Doing this exercise daily will help decrease stiffness and pain in the shoulders, back, and neck. Once you have full mobility in the shoulders and upper back with no pain or discomfort, you’re ready to add strengthening movements by using free weights or your body’s weight (i.e. yoga).
