Both the partners are equally responsible for conceiving. Main investigation for male factor is semen analysis. In semen analysis, we look for the volume of the semen, the count, motility, morphology of the semen, any infection or any other added factors that can interfere with the normal conception. Globally there have been studied that say that the number of sperms or the count of sperms are gradually decreasing. It could be related to lots of factors but mainly to the lifestyle that we have adopted in the present situation. So the question is can any change in our lifestyle bring about improvement in the counter the outcome of pregnancy? Yes, definitely, yes, as we know lifestyle modification have resulted in significant improvement in the semen quality and quantity. Healthy lifestyle habits like adequate sleep, 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Normal regular exercise, maintaining your proper body weight , drinking adequate amount of fluid goes a long way in improving the quality, as we cannot completely avoid the adulteration n of the food which leads to lot of abnormalities because of heavy metals or neurotoxins which are directly or indirectly impair the quality of life. So we can definitely reduce the adulteration by not consuming junk food preserved foods or trying to consume more of healthy organic foods we should avoid sitting for a long time anyone who is doing a desk job or is siting for a long time should take a break of to 10 minutes every hour, walk a bit, stretch himself, shake his leg so that it improves the vascularity and also reduces the temperature of his pelvis. As we know anatomically, the testis and scrotum is located outside the abdominal cavity. This is to maintain the temperature of the testis to a lower side. on the lower side, it produces a better sperm quality, and the count, there are certain activities that can lead to increased temperature in the testicular region like regular hot tub baths, working in a hot weather for a long time, sitting on a bike and ridging for a long time atleast for 2 or 3 hours, daily in heavy traffic and wearing tight jeans and tight underwear can lead to increased temperature in the testis and the scrotum which can lead to decreased semen quality and quantity. Therefore by reducing these activities, like taking warm water baths or wearing lose underwears, not wearing too tight jeans and avoiding long distance travel or too much of commuting on the two wheelers would increase or result in a better sperm quality and quantity, we have also noticed that many people use the laptop by keeping it on their lap, laptop generates a lot of heat and this can result in increased temperature and a bad quality of semen. So it is always advised to keep the laptop a little bit away and also by having frequent intercourse, there can be increase in the quality and the quantity. Frequent means once in 2 days or 3 days. Too frequent can also lead to decrease in the volume and resulting in too many immature sperms being produced. Therefore lifestyle modification and the proper understanding of the fertility process goes a long way in male to improve the semen and also it would result in a good outcome in pregnancy.
