Yoga durante e dopo la gravidanza
Prenatal yoga has become an increasingly popular form of prenatal exercise because it provides a safe way to stay in shape during pregnancy, helps alleviate or/and prevent a number of pregnancy-related discomforts as well as speeds up the loss of pregnancy weight after the delivery. In addition, it provides an effective form of relaxation and is believed to help pregnant women prepare for labor both physically and mentally because unlike other forms of exercises, yoga is not just about physical fitness but deals with both the body and mind. If you are not familiar with yoga, it may sound too exotic to start with during pregnancy but most health experts are totally OK with it. In fact, many health providers consider it an excellent form of workout for pregnant women because the studies have shown that it enhances muscle strength and flexibility including of those muscles you will need during labor, helps prevent low back pain, alleviates stress, prevents nausea and headaches, and helps pregnant women learn breathing techniques that can be very helpful during labor. In addition, research suggests that prenatal yoga may even prevent preterm labor and boost the baby’s health. So if you are considering starting a prenatal exercise and do not know which one to choose, yoga is without a doubt worth considering.
Before you sign up for a prenatal yoga class, you should keep in mind that there are many types of yoga and that all are not appropriate for pregnant women. Obviously, you should avoid the types of yoga that involve strenuous exercise and awkward poses, and do not overdo with the whole yoga thing. You are pregnant not handicapped, however, some types of exercise including yogas are not safe for pregnant women nor is pregnancy the time to start working on your physical fitness all of a sudden.
