Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois famously said that Ashtanga was for everyone, apart from the lazy. As a yoga teacher, I would agree wholeheartedly with that!
If you are stiff, have never done any yoga, sick of “beginner videos” where you can’t even do the first movement, over 60 years old or recovering from some injury, this video might be useful for you. Surya Namaskara A and B are broken down to baby steps, SUPER SLOW for the SUPER STIFF! No worries! Yoga is meant for everybody who wants it. Use this as a taster, daily practice and en-courage-ment to join a class! Perfect if you would like to try Ashtanga Yoga but find the full practice intimidating. The flowing beauty of the full practice need not put off the determined, humble beginner. **Note – I show for DEMONSTRATION ONLY the more flowing, full expression of the practice last**. I have taught many “absolute-can’t touch my toes-beginners” who have illustrated through their perseverance, the transformative power of the practice. I would advise that you first check with your doctor, if you are new or returning to exercise or if you have any health complaint.
