Yoga for surfers is a 10-minute surf warm up routine focuses on stretching and warming-up the whole body. It includes 3 essential stretches for the shoulders, which improves shoulder flexibility when practiced regularly. Great for a pre-surf warm up, but even better as a daily yoga for surfing workout. Flexibility doesn’t just improve after one class, just like surfing it needs time, dedication, practice and patience!

These surf exercises include yoga for surfers poses such as; gomukhasana arms (Cow face pose), uttanasana (forward fold) with clasped hands, Garudasana – (Eagle Pose – arms only) and a variation of a sun salutation designed for surfers. All you need for this warm up for surfing video is your leash and 10 minutes before you get into the water!

Deep breathing is something that yoga and surf have in common, and it is important to practice slowing down and deepening the breath. Check out my yoga breathing for beginners video, which teaches you the full complete breath, which teaches you how to use the whole of the lungs to take in more oxygen and with practice will help with wipe-outs!

This free online video is a great surf yoga workout that isn’t only suitable for surfers, if you don’t surf, this routine can still be practiced as a daily exercise routine to open up the hip and shoulders.
