Have you seen this mobility trick yet? A little while ago I started using a lacrosse ball on my feet, and I never turned back.

It turns out that the sole of your foot is connected to the entire backside of your body, so when you mindfully apply this simple self-myofascial release technique to it (using a lacrosse ball), it helps to stretch your calves, hamstrings, and erector spinae.

To see this trick in action, try touching your toes beforehand. Then after a few minutes of this drill, try touching your toes again. You’ll be amazed at the difference!

It’s great to use before a yoga session to increase your flexibility, or as a quick mobility exercise at the end of the day to relieve stress in your feet. If you have really tight feet or wear constrictive shoes every day, you can do this on a daily basis. Otherwise, I would recommend doing it every other day.

Make sure to move slowly and mindfully. Don’t just roll your foot up and down on the ball as quickly as possible. Really sink your bodyweight into the ball, and work into areas of discomfort or tension.

What’d you think? Do you plan on doing this on a regular basis? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂
