Fast paced, 47 minute Power Yoga routine for strength and conditioning. Both, dynamic movements and static postures are offered in this program for a total body and mind workout.
Follow along the best as you can, and always remember that smooth respiration is your number one priority. Gradually learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable leads to the kind of ‘effortless effort’ that is true embodiment of what it means to do Yoga – INNER BALANCE.
The balance is achieved by playing the polarities of being strong but soft, calm but energetic, fierce but playful, fully activated but not overwhelmingly tense, goal oriented but not attached to outcome and more focused on the here and now. The expectations are set aside to allow us to explore each pose consciously, uniting mind and body, for total integration of polarities, thus achieving a sense of wholeness in the process. We want to take full possession of our body, but not by force or sheer will, the normalization of our breath in exercise leads to inner calm and tension release which is a sign of intelligence and true self possession. Namaste Warriors define Yoga as ‘Skill in action’, the power of right effort, the art of discernment, knowing exactly when to push, and where and when to surrender. The real Yogi knows to adhere to the wisdom of the quote, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
The practice is multilayered, never just a workout, symbolically, its a ‘life hack’, a way to be more balanced, present, and effectual as we navigate the world of flux, change and impermanence on and off the mat. It offers us a perspective from high a top of the mountain, seeing the action as it unfolds, offering us tools to competently and confidently tackle our daily to-do lists and arising circumstances with keen awareness of all potentialities that arise in the moment. Namaste, to all the aspiring Yogis, and enjoy the workout!
Words of caution:
If you are struggling take frequent breaks in child’s pose or hero’s pose, this is a tough, long Yoga class combining various exercise techniques that will absolutely challenge your endurance level. Don’t quit, stay with it, and trust the process. When a gardner plants a seed, patience, tender love and care become the essentials to make the seed grow into its full potential a blossoming, fruit bearing tree. Same principles apply to our Yoga practice, be patient, stay humble, concentrate, shoot for the sky – there is no limit.
