Melissa Field, a pre and postnatal yoga and pilates expert teaches you how to modify Sun Salutation B for Pregnancy.
If you need to, add a Resting Child’s Pose after your last Downward Dog to catch your breath.
I recommend this Sun Salutation if you have an existing yoga practise and looking for ways to adapt it to pregnancy.
I filmed this video when I was in my first trimester (hence the huffing and puffing! haha) and mention not doing downward dog in your third trimester if you baby is engaged. Well…I did downward dog when I was in early labour and my baby was in the prefect position (and stayed there too) so I think it’s a little wives tale. Of course every woman is different so if downward dog doesn’t feel right for you , then best to do child’s pose instead.
Always modify the poses to accomodate your growing belly.
If you’re suffering pelvic pain, I don’t recommend this sun salutation and instead recommend doing Sun Salute A only.
