(16 Jan 2019) The Duchess of Sussex was jokingly called a “fat lady” during a visit to Mayhew animal shelter in London on Wednesday.
The Duchess recently became a patron of the animal welfare charity, which works to improve life for dogs, cats and people in the local community.
Upon meeting the Duchess, a pensioner at the centre expressed her admiration for the royal – before looking at her baby bump and jokingly calling her a “fat lady.”
The Duchess responded with laughter and a simple, “I’ll take it.”
A known dog lover, the Duchess made the most of her time at the centre by stroking numerous canine companions.
