In today’s full body 50 min Yin Yoga practice we are working with the upper body chakras – the ones often referred to as the spiritual chakras as they relate to our connection the world and the divine within. We begin at the throat with expression and communication – clearing the way for expressing our truth. Moving onto the third eye chakra where we connect to our intuition and finally onto our crown chakra and our connection to the greater world, the divine and greater truth. Using mindful movement, breath, mantras and focusing on the meridians associated with these chakras, we explore physical and emotional characteristics of each chakra. If you are new to the chakra system, don’t worry, I tell you a little about each as we go!

Reconnect to your expression and voice, your intuition, and the universal divine – join me!

Seven Chakras:

* Root Chakra/Muladhara: safety, support, grounding, community
* Sacral Chakra/Svadhistana: emotions, sensuality, creativity, relationships, connection
* Solar Plexus Chakra/Manipura: personal power, sense of self, confidence, self-esteem
* Heart Chakra/Anahata: love, compassion, empathy, acceptance (giving and receiving)
* Throat Chakra/Vishuddha: expression, communication, authenticity, personal truth
* Third Eye Chakra/Ajna: intuition, knowledge, wisdom, inner guide
* Crown Chakra/Sahasrara: divine connection, spirituality, divine balance

In Yin Yoga we hold poses passively without muscle engagement to mobilize and strengthen the connective tissue, joints, ligaments and bones. We hold these poses for 1-8 minutes and while this can be challenging at times, try to settle in, breath and commit to the stillness. Always connect with your body and breath and come into the pose slowly, to approximately 2/3 of your maximum depth, being mindfully aware of all the sensations.

Meridians: Liver/Gallbladder, San Jiao/Pericardium

Thank you for practicing with me today and I look forward to practicing with you again very soon!

Peace & Namaste,
Aprille
