Yoga for Immunity:

How can Yoga and living a well balanced life help you around this time of year when sickness is everywhere? It may not completely shield you from catching a cold but it can certainly help with the longevity and intensity of it. Below is a video showing you a few specific Yoga Asanas (postures) and Breathe Techniques that you can add into your daily routine to create unison in your body’s systems helping to ward off some of the germs and bacteria.

In addition to Yoga and a healthy diet, their are some amazing Home Remedies to aide in a strong Immune System. There are a ton out there but here are some of my faves:

1. REST REST REST- this one is huge especially for all you Parents and Full time workabees. We think “oh rest is for the weary” but that really could not be further from the truth. Resting gives your body the time to reset and refuel.

2. Meditation – Goes along with #1. Meditation helps reset the Mind, which in some cases is where our sickness lies. It also significantly reduces stress which is also another culprit to a weakened immune system.

3. Oregano oil- (Thanks to my girl Kelly Shrum) mix some Oregano oil and coconut oil on the bottom of your feet and put socks to allow the oils to soak into your feet, helping to detoxify and release the impurities from the body.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar- If you can handle the taste, drink 2 tablespoons with Water to help strengthen the immune system, as well as digestion.

5. Juicing- Below is one my favorite juice recipes! What’s your favorite?
-1 Cucumber
-1 Apple
-1/2 lemon
-Ginger
-2-3 Bunches of Spinach
-1 Beet and stalks
-3 Carrots
-3 Stalks of Kale

6. Take a bath with Lavender bath salts and Peppermint essential oil (especially when congested)

7. Rub Peppermint or Thieves essential oil with coconut oil on your chest before bedtime to reduce congestion and cough
