WEEK 26 – Welcome to Week 26 of pregnancy! This week in our prenatal yoga practice, we try to touch on all the joints of the body. Remember it’s ok to take it slow and focus on your body and your baby in this pregnancy yoga sequence.

We start out with a warm-up of opening the upper back, chest, shoulders and neck. We do a variation of cat and cow pose to warm up the spine. Standing on the balls of our feet gets into pressure points on your feet that might help to open up. Hip circles anytime are my go to discover any sticky spots on my hip joints. Then I can think about what kind of breathing and moving I need to do to release that tension.

We get into a modified side plank with a quad stretch and then go to low lunge and hamstring string stretch. Gosh, my leg has to go out wide in a forward fold to make room for my baby in the center!
I also realized this week that even in modified poses, balance can always be a challenge so it’s ok to wobble, as long as we keep our breath going steady.

Our standing yoga sequence this week involves warrior 2, triangle pose, wide legged forward fold, and a side lunge (one of my favorite poses). Our yoga flow goes slow but it’s all about moving with your breathing.

After getting back into our quads and our back bend in flipped dog, we come down to all time favorite pregnancy yoga pose, pigeon pose. Surrender as much as you can in this opener and relaxation. I use a cushion for support under my pelvis.
Let me know what worked for you this week in yoga practice. Do you sleep better after doing yoga?

Things you probably need for this yoga practice: mat, long cushion or bolster, and maybe blocks and a cushion for under your knees if you’re mat is not thick enough.
