Here’s a stretch for your hip flexors you won’t soon forget!
This is the couch stretch, and as the name suggests, your couch serves as the perfect prop for this one. If you have tight hip flexors, a stiff lower-back, or tightness in your knees, you’ll love this stretch.
Rest your knee on a pillow to avoid putting pressure on the knee cap – especially if you have sensitive knees. Start with your hands on either side of your planted foot, similar to a runner’s lunge. To increase the intensity of the stretch, stack your shoulders on top of your hips, drawing your core in as tightly as possible.
Hold for at least 45 seconds, and make sure to use your breathing to help you work into this stretch. If your hips are tight, it’s a good idea to do this after some warm-up. You can do this on a daily basis – great for after work or in the morning before getting started.
What’d you think? 🙂 Let me know in the comments below. Do you plan on making this a regular part of your routine?
